NA President Leads Official Delegation to Vietnam, Laos

VIETNAM: President of Cambodia’s National Assembly, Khoun Sodary, is preparing to lead a high-level delegation to pay an official visit to her counterparts from Vietnam and Laos from November 20-December 7.

From November 30-December 2, Khuon Sodary will make courtesy calls to key leaders of Vietnam and visit Tam Chuc Pagoda in Ha Nam, where she will meet with the party secretary. While in Vietnam members of her delegation will also meet with a number of Vietnamese leaders in the public and private sector.

From December 2- 4, Cambodia’s National Assembly President is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on key leaders of Laos and meet with Cambodian students studying abroad.

The presidents of all three countries’ National Assemblies will convene in the Laos capital of Vientiane for the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Parliamentary Summit (CLV) from December 4-7 to bolster friendly relations, and comprehensive cooperation, with a focus on socio-economic development, defense-security, and people-to-people exchanges.

According to the General Secretariat of Cambodia’s National Assembly, the visit will deepen ties among the countries in the executive and legislative branches by building relations in leadership, expert committees, and female MPs. The visit will also promote parliamentary diplomacy, trade, investment, and tourism for the benefit of all three countries.

The main focus of the meetings will be on the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle (CLV-DTA) area which pertains to provinces along the countries’ borders. Established in 1999, the agreement aims to build socio-economic relations along the borders to maintain peaceful and sustainable development.
